How engagement works

Three phases. Care shaped around you.

Assessment, active treatment and continuing care, personally led by Sander Tubbergen.

Begin with a conversation about what is happening and what would be useful. There is no commitment to all three phases: each next step depends on your assessed needs, your preferences and a separate agreement.

The initial enquiry conversation is free of charge. Scope, fees and terms are confirmed in writing before care begins.

Before the detail

A clear structure, not a predetermined path

Consultation can be a complete service in its own right. It may lead to treatment with CLAIREN, another form of care, or no further intervention at present.

Active Treatment and Continuity require an appropriate assessment, but not necessarily a new CLAIREN Consultation. Adequate recent assessment information can be considered, with any further work and its fee explained beforehand. Continuity may also suit someone new to CLAIREN with an established, stable recovery.

Phase 01 · Assessment

Consultation

Consultation & Clinical Direction

An open timber door onto a quiet study with a writing table by a tall window.

Understand what is happening before deciding what comes next.

Across three individual sessions, Sander considers your concerns alongside your psychological history, relationships and professional life. You receive a written Clinical Direction: the findings, a personalised formulation, appropriate options and prioritised recommendations.

This is a standalone assessment, not an admissions process. There is no obligation to continue treatment with CLAIREN.

  • Three 75-minute assessment sessions, including discussion of the findings.
  • A personalised written Clinical Direction and one 30-minute follow-up, usually two to three weeks after the report.
  • Defined allowances for relevant records, agreed partner or family input, and referral coordination.
Timing
Clinical Direction normally within 7–10 days of the first assessment session, subject to scheduling and essential external information. The follow-up takes place later.
Fee
£1,450 fixed fee.
Focus
Clear clinical direction.

Phase 02 · Treatment

Active Treatment

Individual treatment and defined support

Two armchairs beside a tall shuttered window in late afternoon light.

Structured treatment, with support between sessions.

For adults whose assessed needs can be met safely through this service, Active Treatment combines individual psychological treatment, agreed check-ins and practical work between appointments. Sander leads your care throughout.

The initial structure is eight weeks, not a promise that your needs will be resolved within that period. If a different intensity or service would be more appropriate, that is discussed rather than asking you to fit a fixed format.

  • 24 individual 60-minute sessions, normally three each week over eight weeks.
  • Reviews at weeks two, four, six and eight; a shared Treatment Map, weekly plan and written summaries at weeks four and eight.
  • Full CLAIREN Connect access, agreed Monday–Saturday check-ins and routine messaging within defined hours.
  • Up to two hours of routine professional liaison, including any agreed family-orientation conversation of up to 30 minutes.
  • A relapse-response and transition plan, plus one 30-minute review usually two weeks after the active phase.
Initial course
Eight weeks. Any extension or change in intensity requires a further agreement.
Fee
£8,400 for the initial course, payable in two instalments of £4,200, including any applicable VAT. Assessment and external specialist services are separate.
Focus
Active treatment priorities.

Phase 03 · Continuing care

Continuity

Consolidation and ongoing support

A stone arcade opening onto a quiet garden, with a timber bench in soft daylight.

Less intensive care, with the therapeutic relationship still in place.

Continuity offers ongoing psychotherapy with Sander as the intensity of care reduces. The work may include consolidating change, relapse prevention and deeper psychological work where appropriate.

Clients transferring from Active Treatment keep full CLAIREN Connect access without a downgrade or interruption. Clinical contact changes to the agreed Continuity arrangements.

  • Individual sessions at an agreed interval, commonly fortnightly.
  • Full CLAIREN Connect access, an agreed brief weekly check-in and defined routine messaging.
  • A continuing care plan and periodic reviews of frequency, focus and support within agreed sessions.
Duration
Individually agreed and regularly reviewed; not an automatic final phase.
Fee
From £650 per month. Session length, dates or allowance, included support and the total payable are agreed in writing.
Focus
Consolidation and ongoing support.

An ending considered together

A planned ending will be a collaborative decision with you, with two weeks’ notice and a final review of progress, remaining needs or risks, and appropriate next steps. You remain free to stop attending; you do not need permission to end therapy.

CLAIREN Connect

Full access. Clearly defined support.

Your client space supports the therapeutic relationship. It does not replace sessions, provide automated clinical advice or offer continuous monitoring.

Full CLAIREN Connect access is included throughout Active Treatment and Continuity, with no interruption when you transfer. Your shared plans, resources and documents stay available; the level of clinical contact follows the relevant phase agreement.

Access is by personal invitation after care is agreed, the agreement is signed and the agreed initial payment is received. There is no public sign-up, and app access is not included as part of Consultation.

Clinical contact during Active Treatment and Continuity

Support hours
Monday–Friday, 09:00–17:00, and Saturday, 09:00–12:00, UK time.
Routine response
Messages and check-ins are reviewed at scheduled points, not continuously. An acknowledgement or brief reply is provided by the end of the next scheduled support day.
Weekend example
A message sent after 12:00 on Saturday receives a routine response by 17:00 on Monday, unless a closure has been agreed in advance.
Phase-specific contact
Active Treatment includes check-ins Monday–Saturday at an agreed frequency. Continuity includes one brief weekly check-in where useful, not daily check-ins.
Limits and additional work
Routine contact covers brief updates, questions about your agreed plan and session arrangements. Extended discussion, extra appointments or more intensive support require a separate agreement; any additional routine work and fee are discussed beforehand.
Closures and absence
Messages can be sent outside support hours, but are not continuously monitored. Holiday and absence arrangements are explained in advance.

This is routine therapeutic support, not live chat or emergency care. If you need urgent medical or mental-health help, use the urgent-care arrangements agreed in your plan rather than waiting for an app response.

On fees

Know the commitment before you begin

Care is privately funded. CLAIREN does not submit claims to insurers, and any further phase is agreed separately.

£1,450

Fixed fee

£8,400

Initial eight-week course. Two instalments of £4,200, including any applicable VAT.

From £650

Per month. Actual session allowance, duration and support agreed.

The scope, total payable including any applicable VAT, payment dates and terms are confirmed in writing before you commit. If separate assessment is needed before treatment or continuing care, its cost and the total expected initial cost are explained first.

External medical or psychiatric care, medication, tests, formal couples or family therapy, extended coordination and agreed travel or location costs are separate unless expressly included. Any additional work and charges are discussed beforehand.

Written terms explain cancellations, any minimum commitment, early ending, fees during a notice period and unused prepaid care. Changes in routine scope or fee are agreed before they take effect; if this model is not right for your circumstances, alternatives can be considered.

Privacy

Personal care, with clear privacy arrangements

Contact and information-sharing preferences are agreed at the outset. Information is not routinely shared with an employer, colleague, partner or family member without your permission; someone paying for care does not automatically receive clinical information.

Confidentiality and its limits are explained before care begins, including supervision, necessary administrative or technical access, safeguarding, serious risk and legal or professional obligations. Private care does not mean anonymous care or an absence of clinical records.

Questions

Before you decide

Do I need all three phases?

No. Consultation may be all you need, and neither Active Treatment nor Continuity follows automatically. Each phase is considered according to your assessed needs and agreed separately.

An appropriate assessment is needed before Active Treatment or Continuity is agreed. This may be CLAIREN Consultation or a review of adequate recent assessment information, with any further assessment and fee explained before you commit.

Yes. Full CLAIREN Connect access continues without interruption, including your existing shared plans, resources and documents. Clinical support changes to the Continuity arrangements; full app access does not mean unlimited clinician time.

Appointments can be remote where clinically appropriate. An agreed private location may also be considered, subject to availability and any additional costs. Sessions from another country require prior review of suitability and applicable professional requirements.

Next steps are reviewed with you rather than assumed. Continuity has a planned, collaborative ending with two weeks’ notice and a final review; you remain free to stop attending.

For each service, written terms explain any fees due, unused prepaid care and when routine messaging and app access end. Access to existing records is not conditional on buying further treatment. The included Active Treatment transition review is not lost or charged twice if you move into Continuity.

A first conversation

You do not have to decide everything now

A brief conversation with Sander can help you explain what is concerning you, ask questions and consider an appropriate next step. There is no charge for the initial enquiry and no obligation to proceed.

Any assessment, treatment or continuing care is agreed separately before it begins.

CLAIREN provides planned outpatient care, not an emergency or medical detoxification service. Enquiry messages and CLAIREN Connect are not continuously monitored.
